Tuscaloosa, Ala. - The Missing Ink, a student-led online magazine that showcases UA community artwork, is hosting a horror film contest screening on Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at 7 p.m. in the Biology building auditorium room 127. The screening will be immediately followed by a tour of the “haunted” Kilgore House. Both activities are free and open to
the public.

Five student films of suspense and horror will be shown. Awards will be given in two categories: Best Overall Film wins an HD Flip Camera and Best Overall Sound wins an iPod Shuffle. Honorable Mentions will be awarded to Most Innovative Storyline, Best Actors and Most Gory.
The Missing Ink also hopes to reintroduce the public to the Kilgore House - a historical haunted house on UA’s campus. Sigma Alpha Iota will provide a bake sale with creepy-looking cookies outside the house. Two audience members will have a chance to win an overnight investigation in the Kilgore House with the Alabama Paranormal Society. The EVP’s from a previous investigation of the house can be found at www.missingink.ua.edu.
The Missing Ink provides information about artistic people, organizations and events on campus. The goal of the film contest and screening is to heighten awareness and creativity of student film production.

There will be a screening on March 31 at 7 p.m. in the Biology building auditorium (room 127). This film contest was inspired by our interest to raise awareness about the Kilgore House (article found under the creative writing tab). The house has recently been investigated by Alabama Paranormal Society in search for haunting evidence -- and they found it! The footage will be on The Missing Ink soon, so keep checking. In regard to the Kilgore House, a tour will be provided after the film screening. The house is located across the street from the Biology building so anyone interested can walk over after (and only after) the film showing has ended.
Awards and honorary mentions will be selected for the following categories:
Best Overall Film wins HD Flip Camera
Best Overall Sound wins iPod Shuffle
Most Innovative Plot
Best Actors
Most Gory
